Audi has revealed its new Audi Q8 concept at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The flagship Audi Q8 luxury SUV/coupe transcends the previous Audi Q7 and puts Audi on par with other high end models like the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe.
While the wheelbase and overall footprint of the Q8 is similar to the current Q7, the Q8 brings a much sportier body, with a lower base, sloping roofline, and tapered rear, with experts expecting five seats and a 630-liter boot in production models. The Q8 concept is a plug-in hybrid e-tron model, containing a 3.0-liter TFSI engine paired with an electric motor running with a 17.9kWh lithium-ion battery, with 438 horsepower and 700Nm of torque, which delivers 37 miles per a single charge in electric power and taking an estimated two and a half hours to charge the battery. The Audi Q8 has reportedly clocked 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 155mph, emitting 53g/km of carbon emissions. An eight-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro four-wheel drive delivers power to the drivetrain.
All things considered, this is an exciting development for Audi, who remains one of the companies on the cutting edge of high-end automobiles, and we are excited to see what the future has in store for new luxury Audi automobiles.
